RESPONSE TO OWL NEWS 8 ALLEGATIONS

I would like to quickly address allegations that I purchased Spongebob Squarepants paraphernalia using campaign funds, and that I have an unseemly obsession with the popularized television show. Recently OWL NEWS 8 published a news article detailing what appeared as an unhealthy interest in the children’s cartoon.

The article opened with testimony from an “anonymous source within the Sylvester campaign.” Unfortunately, in this time of political turmoil, there are Americans who disagree with my policies and put themselves in my path towards presidency. I can assure you that I have no interest in the television program, and that this “anonymous source” was an average citizen posing as a member of my campaign team.

The noted absence at my cousin’s September wedding was not to watch the “television marathon” as reported, but to be in my home state of Florida following the horrific events of Hurricane Irma. While it was difficult to be away from family during their time of celebration, I was devoted to helping the people of Florida recover, and knew that I was needed at home. Similarly, I did miss a series of meetings in the end of August, as I spent time in Texas to help my family and its community recover from the disastrous effects of Hurricane Harvey. Our country is at its strongest when we work together to help our own.

However, my biggest concern is the allegations that I misused campaign funds. OWL NEWS 8 reports that I spent approximately $30,000 on Spongebob memorabilia. This is incorrect information. My campaign spending is public, and can be seen on the FEC page titled “Public Ledger - Campaign 2018.” There you will find that my only campaign spending was in the form of advertisements and face-to-face time with the states during Week 4. The mistaken $30,000 purchase was actually a personal $30 purchase of the “Krabby Patty recipe” for my nephew as a gift during this past holiday season.

I would also like to address the allegations that I may have quoted the children’s program at any point during this campaign. The misinterpreted conversation between Senator John McCain and myself took place during a press conference I had while visiting California. While I spoke to the people of Los Angeles, my personal assistant and valued member of my campaign, Patrick Morris, was answering phone calls on my behalf. This is when the rumored quoting took place.

Ultimately, I hope to put to rest any concerns about my mental stability and use of campaign funds. During this campaign, I have spent my time travelling the country to listen to you, the American people. I can promise all of you that my interest has alway been to improve this nation and create a country that believes in its citizens. Thank you.
